Diaverum representatives recently connected with industry counterparts, as part of an exciting new initiative set to play an integral role in the European renal care industry's journey towards carbon neutrality.

The Nordic Center for Sustainable Healthcare (NCSH), of which Diaverum has been a member since October 2023, hosted a webinar on 13 June. Focusing on bringing together ideas and thought-starters around how kidney care can be sustainable, the session served as an initial introduction for participants that will come together for the organisation’s “Innovation Challenge” in October, during the 6th Nordic Conference on Sustainable Healthcare.

Creating a sustainable future for renal care
The event forms part of the broader work the NCSH is engaging in through KitNewCare, a new initiative co-funded by Horizon Europe, the EU’s key funding programme for research & innovation, and UK Research and Innovation. Launched at the start of 2024 and set to run for three years, KitNewCare’s primary objective is to involve a range of stakeholders – including patients, healthcare professionals, NGOs, industry partners and policymakers - to foster the transformation of kidney healthcare into a sustainable, climate-neutral model.

During the session, Diaverum was represented by Stephanie de Sury, Global ESG Manager, who shared our environmental strategy and how we are working towards reaching NetZero by 2050, centred around a patient-centric approach that is both good for our patients and the planet.

Commenting on the event, Stephanie said: “Over the last decade, concerns over businesses’ impact on the environment and society, as well as their corporate governance standards, have reflected a welcomed shifting paradigm of priorities – KitNewCare’s role in this space reflects this”.

“I was really pleased that our collaboration with NCSH enabled us to play a role in such an important discussion together with fellow industry representatives. Uniting under one common cause was both illuminating and inspiring & I look forward to our in-person session in October”.
