d.ACADEMY

The virtual university d.ACADEMY is a comprehensive state-of-the-art educational offer aimed at all the different groups involved in dialysis treatment; patients, doctors, nurses, and managers. As with all Diaverum activities, the programme is first and foremost people-centric.

Patients

The patient education programme guides patients on how best to live their lives with chronic kidney disease. This includes information about kidney disease and the basic procedures for treatment, how to choose between different treatments, how to understand lab results, what to eat and drink as a kidney patient and how to interact with the clinic. The education is offered to all patients in all countries and comes in the form of classroom material, one-to-one sessions, an e-learning platform, and information pamphlets.

Physicians

The physician education programme is aimed at doctors and junior doctors employed at Diaverum, as well as doctors in countries new to the Diaverum family, where medical standards are different than in Europe. The programme is based on a number of lectures available via our learning management system, covering more than 50 subjects in the fields of nephrology, dialysis and transplantation.

Nurses

The programme for nurses focuses on the practical aspects of dialysis treatment and patient care, and includes reading material in the learning management system, as well as an interactive e-learning programme. The third part, and perhaps the most important, consists of tutorial videos showing all the procedures in a clinic, step by step. All nurse education programmes have been accredited/certified by EDTNA/ERCA.

Clinic managers

Since 2016 we offer our leadership programme for clinic managers, who run day-to-day operations in the clinic setting.

Manager programmes

Diaverum also offers a number of educational programmes for managers. One programme, a Diaverum entry package, is tailored for non-clinical managers. This comprises the Diaverum culture and co-operation between management and healthcare professionals. Non-clinical managers also learn the practicalities of dialysis, what it is, how it works, and get information on kidney transplantation, peritoneal dialysis, and integrated renal care.
