Diaverum Kaišiadorys - Visit Kaišiadorys
Kaišiadorys is a midsized city sitting between Kaunas and Vilnius. It is one of six Lithuanian diocese centres and home to the Cathedral of the Transfiguration of Christ.
A powerful city
As a typical Lithuanian city Kaišiadorys has an eventful history: the roots of the city´s name are Asian, but it was officially founded in 1871, then occupied by the Germans during the First World War and started to develop as a Soviet city.
Kaunas is located some kilometers from Kaišiadorys and is one of the biggest cities in Lithuania. With its spirit of business and entrepreneurship, the city is on the move, rapidly developing into a real western city. Still it enjoys a remarkable Old Town.
Vilnius, the capital city of Lithuania, is also located close to Kaišiadorys. It is a city of rich European experience, a city within which different architectural styles are intertwined, and where the spirit of East and West meets. The city is home to major companies and key financial institutions. Vilnius Old Town is included in UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
