DIAVERUM ARGENTINA - Sede Maipu - Visit Maipú
The Department of Maipú is in the Andean province of Mendoza, 16 kilometres from the capital city. It is one of the oldest winegrowing areas of Argentina – but still, it has a lot more to offer then wine.
The spirit of Maipú
In Maipú you find the typical Argentine down-to-earth way of life. As the European settlers came to this land at the end of the 19th century they found a land perfect for wine and olive culture. Today some of the most famous wines come from here. Of course tourists can also visit some of the oldest olive plantations of Argentina. This natural wealth allows the region to produce the best varieties of olive oil, olive paste and other delicious products.
As the local inhabitants are traditionally deeply religious but also have a blithe spirit there are many fiestas all year, like the Wine Harvest Festival, the Fiesta Virgen de la Merced and the Fiesta de la Mermelada Casera.
Additionally, the department of Maipú offers tourists many places to visit. There are interesting museums as well as centennial buildings with amazing architecture and superb churches and sanctuaries like the Maria Auxiliadora Sanctuary. Tourists can also take part in agrotourism activities such as bee-keeping, sulkys or horse rides.
