We are delighted to share that Maria Arminda Silva Tavares, Head Nurse of our clinic in Aveiro, Portugal, has been elected to the position of Executive Committee Member of the European Dialysis and Transplant Nurses Association/European Renal Care Association (EDTNA/ERCA).

Announced in September, the exciting new role is the result of Maria’s long-standing collaboration with the association. For the past three years, she has worked with the EDTNA/ERCA as a Peritoneal Dialysis Consultant; she has also been a highly active participant in the annual EDTNA/ERCA International Conferences for almost 15 years.

The EDTNA/ERCA’s core value of upholding the high standard of education in renal care, by sharing knowledge and experience amongst its members, is especially ambitious. Maria’s appointment is a testament to the wealth of experience that she has amassed since becoming a renal nurse in 2004.

Commenting on the prestigious appointment, Maria noted: “It is a privilege, a challenge and an enormous responsibility, but I know I will be supported by my colleagues on the Executive Committee. I appreciate the trust given to me by the members who voted me”.

She added “The opportunity to meet other renal nurses and other renal care professionals has been very enriching, and has allowed me to evolve both personally and professionally. It has been a long journey, but fulfiling”.

Please join us in congratulating Maria on her new role.
