We are strengthening our presence in North West England, with the opening of a new, state-of-the-art renal centre in Ulverston.

People suffering from kidney disease are now able to receive treatment closer to home, with the opening of the new Furness Renal Centre in Ulverston.

The new centre will be operated in partnership with the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. It is a 12-station, stand-alone facility in a lovely location, offering brand new equipment in a modern and spacious setting. It is comprised of three isolation rooms, a minimal care area, four consultation rooms and outpatient facilities, bringing life-enhancing renal care kidney care closer to home for patients currently receiving treatment from various units in South Cumbria and the Lake District.

The minimal care room is a key feature. It is a separate space away from the main treatment area, where patients can undertake treatment independently, giving them more flexibility and empowering them to take control of their care, with minimal or no supervision.

The clinic has ample free parking space, and benefits from individual Freeview TV, as well as free Wi-Fi. It has been decorated, with patient input, in a warm and inviting colour scheme.

Commenting on the new clinic, Mick Hartnett, Managing Director, Diaverum UK said: We are pleased to be working with our partners at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, to bring life-enhancing renal care to local patients in Ulverston. It is good to be a core part of a vision for an improved and accessible service. At Diaverum, we are committed to improving patient care, and making renal care accessible to all, which is why we are excited that the new Furness Renal Centre will be opening its doors to patients on today”.

“This new clinic ensures that local people have access to the very best kidney care services possible. It also means significantly reduced travel times for patients, which will make a real difference to their quality of life and is evidence of our True care culture approach. We are positive that patients and our new Ulverston colleagues will all be happy with the new facility. Thank you to everyone involved in this fantastic project.”

The new Furness clinic is part of a larger project Diaverum UK is undertaking with Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. We are in the process of building two additional, state-of-the-art clinics, each comprised of 24 stations, in East Lancashire, that are due to open in the coming months. We are also taking over the facilities management of an existing clinic in Kendal, where we will be undertaking a full refurbishment of the facility to provide a modern clinic that enhances patient experience. In total, Diaverum UK runs 32 clinics that employ 507 clinical staff to treat over 2,000 patients every year, making it one of our company’s most important markets.
