Diaverum has completed a strategic acquisition in the state of São Paulo, significantly strengthening its platform in Latin America’s largest healthcare market. The transaction further scales Diaverum’s presence through a combination of clinic operations, management contracts and acute services, reinforcing its commitment to advancing its long-term growth agenda in Brazil.

The acquisition includes four established clinics within the Lund Group - CDTR and CDTR Prime in Sorocaba, INDI in Itapetininga and Lund Nefrologia in Itu - alongside management contracts in two public hospitals and acute service agreements that extend Diaverum’s reach beyond owned infrastructure. Together, these operations currently serve approximately 1,400 patients and deliver more than 220,000 treatments annually.

Founded by the highly respected Brazilian nephrologist Dr Yussif Ali Mere Júnior – a pioneer in renal treatment and current President of ABCDT (Associação Brasileira dos Centros de Diálise e Transplante - Brazilian Association of Dialysis and Transplant Centers), the leading association representing dialysis clinics in the country - the Lund Group has built a strong reputation for its established expertise in the sector.

Strengthening presence in Brazil’s most dynamic region

The state of São Paulo is Brazil’s largest and most economically dynamic region, with approximately 44 million inhabitants. Demographic shifts and increasing chronic disease prevalence continue to drive demand for high-quality healthcare services.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) affects an estimated 6 - 9% of Brazil’s adult population, with approximately 2.3% of those patients at stage 5 CKD requiring dialysis, underscoring the urgent need for equitable access to high-quality renal care. Brazil’s dialysis market combines strong clinical expertise with a fragmented provider landscape, creating opportunities to expand access while strengthening standards through scale, governance and digital integration, areas where Diaverum’s global platform and proprietary Care Delivery Model offer a distinct strategic edge.

Within this context, the acquired operations play a critical role in expanding access. Clinics in Itu and Itapetininga are the only private providers in their respective cities, ensuring essential local access to dialysis services. In Sorocaba, one of the state’s key industrial and healthcare hubs, the clinics represent a major regional centre with significant capacity for future growth.

Advancing integrated care and long-term outcomes

Beyond expanding capacity, the acquisition also strengthens Diaverum Brazil’s ability to deliver more integrated chronic disease management. In line with M42’s broader vision, this supports a shift from reactive treatment towards more preventative and coordinated care. Through initiatives such as its Diabetes Prevention and Management Programmes, Diaverum enables earlier diagnosis, improves disease management and supports continuous patient engagement, contributing to better long-term outcomes.

As part of the M42 group, Diaverum is connected to a broader global health platform that integrates clinical expertise with advanced digital infrastructure and data-driven insights. This enables Diaverum not only to enhance care delivery today, but to progressively evolve renal care towards increasingly integrated and sustainable models that scale access to care for patients, and benefit communities and health systems alike.

This announcement follows the recent acquisition of Serviço de Nefrologia Ribeirão Preto (SENERP), located in Ribeirão Preto in the northeastern part of São Paulo state, further reinforcing Diaverum’s footprint in the region.

Luciano Bonaldo, Country Manager for Diaverum Brazil, commented: “São Paulo is one of the most important healthcare markets in Brazil, with strong and growing demand for high-quality healthcare services.  This acquisition allows us to expand access to life-enhancing renal care for more patients and strengthen our role in the communities we serve.”

José María Ordóñez, VP Europe & LATAM, said: “Latin America remains a key region in Diaverum’s long-term development strategy. Strengthening our presence in São Paulo state increases regional market presence, enhances clinical collaboration and builds a more connected network of care.

“This expansion allows us not only to grow dialysis capacity, but also to further support integrated chronic disease management. By embedding our Care Delivery Model and leveraging digital tools, we are better positioned to enable earlier intervention and improved care coordination for patients living with complex conditions such as diabetes and chronic kidney disease.”

Rafael Romanini, Diaverum CEO and COO for Europe and LATAM, concluded: “Brazil is a strategic market for Diaverum given its scale, long-term growth potential and the opportunity to continue advancing standards within a fragmented dialysis landscape. Expanding in São Paulo state - the country’s most economically dynamic region - reinforces our ability to deliver consistently high-quality, patient-centered renal care at scale”.

Following this expansion, Diaverum now operates 18 clinics and three vascular access centres in Brazil, further strengthening its footprint and long-term growth trajectory in the country.
