Diaverum proudly participated in the ERA 2026 Congress, one of the world’s largest nephrology conferences and Europe’s leading meeting for kidney care professionals, held from 3 - 6 June in Glasgow, Scotland.
Representatives from across Diaverum’s 25-country network, led by our Corporate Medical team, joined thousands of healthcare professionals from more than 100 countries. Attendees included nephrologists, researchers, dialysis specialists, transplant physicians, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals, all united by a shared mission to advance kidney care worldwide.
This year’s scientific theme, “Open your mind, challenge your thinking,” encouraged innovative thinking, scientific curiosity, and fresh perspectives in kidney health and disease management.
Dr Carla Santos, VP Medical at Diaverum and M42, commented: “This year’s theme resonates strongly with us at Diaverum. We are committed to improving long-term patient outcomes and quality of life through holistic, patient-centred care. Achieving this requires innovation, strong clinical governance, evidence-based medicine, and a culture of continuous learning and excellence. Collaboration and knowledge-sharing are fundamental to driving meaningful progress.”
As part of the scientific programme, Diaverum contributed several oral and poster presentations across a broad range of topics, showcasing the expertise, innovation, and research taking place throughout our global network.
Highlights included:
- 7 oral presentations from North Macedonia, Portugal, Romania, Saudi Arabia and Spain
- 10 poster presentations from Albania, Greece, Portugal, Romania and Spain

Highlighting the importance of kidney transplantation
Kidney transplantation remains a key strategic focus for Diaverum, reflecting our commitment to ensuring that as many eligible patients as possible have access to the most effective treatment option for kidney failure. To reinforce this commitment, Diaverum hosted a special fireside chat at its congress booth featuring Dr Domingos Machado, Nephrologist at Diaverum and M42, Transplantation Ambassador, and living kidney donor, alongside Filipe Almeida, a kidney transplant recipient.
Titled “Two sides of the same journey: a nephrologist donor and a transplant recipient in conversation,” the session brought together the perspectives of a healthcare professional who donated a kidney and a patient who received one, creating an open and inspiring dialogue.
Moderated by Dr Carlos Lucas, VP Medical at Diaverum and VP Medical, Corporate Office, M42, the discussion explored the human side of transplantation - from clinical expertise and decision-making to the lived experience of donation and transplantation.
Reflecting on Diaverum’s participation at ERA 2026, Dr Carlos Lucas said: “We were extremely proud to contribute to this year’s scientific programme through multiple presentations from colleagues across many countries. Our strong presence at ERA demonstrated how we deliver high-quality kidney care throughout our network, supported by strong digital governance, digital tools and AI.
I was also honoured to moderate our transplantation fireside chat, which highlighted the profound human impact of transplantation and reinforced the importance of expanding access to this life-changing treatment.”
From scientific presentations to meaningful conversations about transplantation, Diaverum's presence at ERA 2026 reflected our commitment to combining clinical excellence, innovation, and patient-centred care to improve the lives of millions of people affected by kidney disease worldwide.
