Diaverum has successfully completed an audit conducted by the Accreditation Committee of the European Dialysis and Transplant Nurses Association/European Renal Care Association (EDTNA/ERCA), reaffirming the accredited status of its global nursing programme, Competence in Practice (CiP).

Launched in 2005, Diaverum’s CiP programme - built on a strong clinical foundation, grounded in evidence-based practice, and designed to support the continuous development of competence in renal nursing - has been accredited by EDTNA/ERCA since 2007. Its latest reaccreditation, granted in 2023 and valid for four years, achieved a “Highly Commended” status. The programme was also awarded 25 EDTNA/ERCA learning hours, further enhancing its value and contributing to the professional development and curriculum enrichment of participating nurses.

As part of the accreditation process, an audit is conducted every second cycle once a programme has maintained accreditation for more than two consecutive four-year periods. The audit took place during a site visit to Diaverum North Macedonia, where representatives from the EDTNA/ERCA Accreditation Committee had the opportunity to learn more about the programme from the team leading it, hear from nurses taking the training, and discuss opportunities to further develop and strengthen it.

Through its accreditation programme, EDTNA/ERCA evaluates educational activities offered to healthcare professionals working in renal care, assessing both the quality and relevance of the training provided. The association also supports educators in developing their capabilities and encourages the sharing of best practices across the sector.

Israel Silva, Corporate Nursing Director, shared: “I am truly pleased and proud to receive such positive feedback following the accreditation site visit to Diaverum North Macedonia, particularly the recognition that the Competence in Practice Programme is deeply embedded within our organisation. This success also reflects the strong contribution and engagement of our country and clinical leaders, whose commitment is essential to translating global education into daily clinical practice. We will continue to keep education and professional development at the core of our work, as empowered nurses are essential to delivering clinical excellence and improving patient outcomes at scale”.

Suzanne Pearce, Corporate Nursing Director, added: “The continued accreditation of the Competence in Practice Programme reflects Diaverum’s long-standing commitment to nursing excellence, professional development, and high-quality, patient-centred care. By investing in continuous learning and competence development, we equip our nurses with the knowledge, confidence, and skills needed to provide life-enhancing renal care”.
