Diaverum UK recently brought together colleagues from across the organisation for a strategic workshop focused on the future of kidney care and the evolving needs of patients and their families.

With around 7.2 million people in the UK living with chronic kidney disease (CKD), the workshop provided an important opportunity to reflect on the growing and changing needs of patients and families, and how care models must continue to evolve to support them. Discussions focused on how kidney care extends far beyond dialysis. As more people live with chronic kidney disease for longer, often alongside other health conditions, there is an increasing need for a more holistic approach that supports not only clinical outcomes, but also quality of life, patient experience and long-term wellbeing.

A key area of discussion focused on the strategic direction the UK takes in the future, in particular reviewing other service provisions and the role of digital innovation in supporting patients throughout their renal care journey. This includes Diaverum’s ongoing commitment to kidney.com, helping to increase awareness of chronic kidney disease and provide patients with accessible, personalised information that enables them to better understand and manage their condition.

Commenting on the workshop, Zisis Sotiriou, Vice President International, said: “The future of kidney care depends on our ability to understand and respond to the evolving needs of patients. While delivering excellent clinical outcomes remains fundamental, we must also consider the wider experience of living with chronic kidney disease and how we can support patients at every stage of their journey.

By combining clinical expertise, innovation and digital solutions, we have an opportunity to deliver more personalised care, empower patients with better information and ultimately improve quality of life. Our discussions in the UK reinforced the importance of continuing to evolve the way we care for patients, today and in the future.”

Gavin Wright, Country Manager UK, added: “What stood out throughout these discussions was the shared commitment of our teams to continually improve the experience we provide for patients and their families. As needs and expectations evolve, it is important that we keep listening, learning and adapting our approach to care.

Bringing colleagues together in this way allows us to share ideas, challenge ourselves and identify practical opportunities to strengthen the support we provide every day across our clinics and throughout the patient journey.”

The workshop reinforced Diaverum’s commitment to patient-centred care and continuous improvement. By listening to patients, collaborating across teams and embracing innovation, we can help shape a future where people living with chronic kidney disease are better supported, informed and empowered throughout their renal care journey.
