Representatives from Diaverum were key participants in North Macedonia's first-ever national Renal Expert Academy.

Taking place in Skopje last month, the event was the result of a collaboration between the Minister of Health to North Macedonia, Dr. Fatmir Mexhiti, the Swedish Ambassador to North Macedonia, H.E. Ami Larsson Jain, and Business Sweden, an initiative formed between the Swedish government and private business sector to help promote Swedish-born organisations on a global scale.

The event brought together more than 50 experts from both North Macedonia and Sweden to share insights, learnings and best practices, with the objective to improve renal care in their respective countries. It was opened by the North Macedonian Minister of Health and the Swedish Ambassador, who welcomed the initiative as the first step towards forging a long-term partnership.

Representatives from both Diaverum’s executive leadership team and North Macedonia country management participated in the event, with Chief Medical Officer Dr Fernando Macário joining a panel covering topics such as preventive renal care, pre-dialysis and patient-centric models of renal care. Commenting on the event, he said: “I was delighted to have participated in the first Renal Expert Academy here in North Macedonia, and met with nephrology experts from both the private and public sectors”.

“During the session, I had the opportunity to share best practice methods from our other markets, underscoring Diaverum’s commitment to offering life-enhancing renal care through a multidisciplinary, integrated approach. I also presented the benefits of our breakthrough Vascular Access (VA) AI model, and how Diaverum is leveraging digital innovation to offer personalised, standardised, efficient and high-quality care for its patients”.

“I would like to express my gratitude and congratulations to the North Macedonian Ministry of Health, the Swedish Ambassador and our country team for successfully hosting such an important event”.

Rafael Romanini, Regional VP for Iberia, LATAM & CEE, who also participated, added: “Delivering life-enhancing care to renal patients is at the core of our business at Diaverum, and our active participation in such events, that further reinforces our commitment to collaborate with North Macedonia’s renal care services, is proof of this”.

“I am also thrilled that this milestone event coincided with Diaverum’s fifth anniversary of operations in North Macedonia, as it allows for us to reflect on the team’s many remarkable achievements during this time”.

Dimitar Klisarovski, Country Managing Director for North Macedonia, also commented: “I was delighted to have participated in the first-ever Renal Expert Academy organised in our country, where we had opportunity to connect and exchange views with international and Macedonian renal experts”.

“It is proof that in the short period Diaverum has been active in the country, that our True care culture and holistic approach to renal care has already made a significant impact. I look forward to us being a strong and stable partner that helps shape the future of renal care in North Macedonia”.

Since launching in 2018, Diaverum has become one of the leading providers of renal care in North Macedonia, with a total of 9 clinics (3 of which offer pre-dialysis services), and more than 250 staff caring for over 700 patients nationwide.
